Dr. Frank Porreca is the Cosden Professor of Pain and Addiction Studies in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.
Dr. Porreca’s research focuses on understanding circuits and mechanisms promoting chronic pain, migraine, post-traumatic headache and opioid addiction. His recent work has focused on sexually dimorphic mechanisms of pain and headache. Dr. Porreca has authored nearly 600 peer-reviewed publications as well as many chapters and other scholarly writings. His H-index is 117. His laboratory has been supported by continuous funding by the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense. He is a Fellow of the American Headache Society and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
