Marcela Romero-Reyes, DDS, PhD, FAHS

Dr. Marcela Romero Reyes is a clinical professor and Director of the Brotman Facial Pain Clinic at the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences, University of Maryland, School of Dentistry. Dr. Romero is an orofacial pain specialist, Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain (ABOP) and the co-editor of the 7th edition of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP), Orofacial Pain Guidelines for Assessment, Diagnosis and Management. She is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the fields of orofacial pain and headache disorders who has been distinguished by numerous awards including the prestigious Steven B. Graff-Radford Orofacial Pain and Headache lectureship by the AHS in 2022 in recognition of a prominent status and contributions to the field of orofacial pain and headache research. Her research interests involve neuro-immune and nitroxidative mechanisms in orofacial pain and headache disorders and the discovery of new targets for management.
