Barlas Benkli, MD is a headache and pain medicine physician at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed his medical training in Istanbul, Turkey, at Koç University School of Medicine. He studied as Doctor of Philosophy candidate in Neuroscience at the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences in Oxford, England.
He completed his Neurology residency at the University of Texas in Houston, before completing his interventional pain medicine fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon, followed by a headache and facial pain fellowship with the University of California, Los Angeles Goldberg Migraine Program.
His clinical interests include interventional management of spine pain, headache medicine, and neuromodulation. His main research interests include the role of the hypothalamus and upper cervical spinal cord in primary headache disorders, and innovative aspects of interventional pain management.
When not working, he spends time outdoors sailing, playing tennis, and hiking.
