Dr. Róli Simões, BVM, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. She works in Dr. Yu-Qing Cao’s laboratory at the Washington University Pain Center. Her research focuses on the role of the GABAergic system and regulatory T cells (Tregs) in the development of chronic pain, using both stress-induced and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) models. Dr. Simões is particularly interested in how IL-2-based therapies might restore immune balance and prevent chronic pain. She earned her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) in Brazil and has a strong background in preclinical pain research, with experience in behavioral models to better understand pain chronification.
