Gretchen Tietjen, MD is a Distinguished Professor Emerita of Neurology at the University of Toledo, in Toledo, Ohio, specializing in headache medicine and vascular neurology. Her research focuses on the migraine-stroke association, and the relationship of early life stress and migraine, including the effects on vascular and brain biology. Dr. Tietjen has over 150 papers, chapters, and reviews. She has been a recipient of the AHS Seymour Solomon Award, Harold G. Wolff Award, John Graham Award, the inaugural Women's Health Science Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as the Stroke Innovation Award from the journal Stroke, and the Innovation Award from the Association of Migraine Disorders. She is currently a member of the AHS Publications Committee, and Nominating Committee. Previously, she was chair of the AHS Women's Health section, chair of the Publications Committee, member of the AHS Board and Awards Committee, and an Associate Editor of Headache.
