Program Projects fund a group of investigators who work together to achieve goals that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with individual R01s. Program Projects often have an overarching theme and then a series of Projects that address different aspects of the theme and Cores that support the projects. I will describe several program projects that measure headache and pain and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this funding mechanism.
