Building a sustainable lab requires you to think about what you really enjoy best about your job and to factor in how you want to pursue the ideal work-life balance. For example, do you want to work at the bench every day or would you rather have a lab manager who can insure continuity of training for the constant flux of people in and out of the lab? Do you want to keep a lab burning on the 24/7, always a fire to put out and deadline to meet schedule or do you want a slower pace?

Learning Objectives:

  • To build a network of colleagues.
  • To regularly meet with lab members.
  • To have multiple sources of overlapping funding.
