We will discuss a potential new phenotype in migraine, an increased prevalence of migraine aura at altitude, as well as its potential mechanism, an increased susceptibility to spreading depolarization.
Learning Objectives:
Understand our current state of knowledge about how altitude affects migraine phenotypes.
Summarize findings from different datasets showing increased prevalence of migriane aura at altitude.
Explain how an increased susceptibility to spreading depolarizations might explain an altitude aura phenotype.
